Well, what can we say? We gave it our absolute best shot on last night’s semi-final round (here’s the official BGT YouTube video), performing the Beatles’ “Hey Jude” with true passion for 10 million TV viewers (and an enthusiastic live studio audience). The introductory film montage BGT put together — featuring orchestra members on the Cliffs of Dover, Tower Bridge, and in an open-topped double-decker bus — was stunning.
But despite four happy judges (three of whom gave us a standing ovation) it just…wasn’t enough to get us through to the finals. Our only hope is now that the judges will use their “wild card” vote tonight to realize what they’re missing.
This follows our audition on April 9, 2016, when nine million people saw us perform an arrangement of Queen’s “Don’t Stop Me Now.” Here’s the YouTube video, which features our very own pianist (and viola player) Nicholas “Nick” Bryant (over four million views and counting!). Read all about it — including more video and press links — in our News section.
For the record, the “Got Talent” formula is the most popular reality TV format in the world (according to the Guinness Book of World Records) and has been commissioned in 58 territories worldwide. And we are the only orchestra to ever make it to the semi-finals of Britain’s Got Talent in its 10 years of existence!
